What is Polyester Yarn
Polyester yarn refers to the yarn spun from polyester. Polyester is a fiber made by spinning a type of polymer. Mostly refers to the fiber produced with ethylene phthalate as the raw material. According to the English of its raw material The abbreviation of the name “polyethylene terephthalate”, and the abbreviation “PET” fiber. It is commonly called polyester in our country. Usually the so-called “yarn” actually refers to the collective term of “yarn” and “thread”. It is defined as follows in the science of clothing materials: “Yarn” is the arrangement of many short fibers or filaments in an approximately parallel state and along the axial direction. Rotation and twisting forms a slender object with a certain strength and linear density; while “thread” is a strand made by twisting two or more single yarns. Yarn is thin strands of cotton, wool, hemp, chemical fiber, etc., which are stretched and twisted (usually used as the raw material for weaving), and then twisted into multiple strands of cotton, hemp, silk, wool and other fine strands. Thin strands are called lines.
The development trend of polyester yarn
Polyester fabrics with real silk appearance style woven from polyester filaments or short fiber yarns with round and profiled cross-sections have the advantages of low price, anti-wrinkle and non-ironing, and are very popular with consumers. Common varieties are: polyester silk, polyester crepe, polyester satin, polyester georgette, polyester interwoven silk and so on. These varieties have the elegant drape, smoothness, softness, and pleasing of silk fabrics. At the same time, they also have the stiffness, wear resistance, easy washing and non-ironing of polyester fabrics. The disadvantage is that these fabrics have poor moisture absorption and breathability and are not too cool to wear. In order to overcome this shortcoming, more new polyester fabrics have come out, such as high moisture absorption polyester fabrics.
